RIP Mr. Wex who was an incredible teacher and motivator at the school I coach at. I went to the funeral today and I have never been more inspired by a person I had never even met. The speakers, including one of my former captains, was so uplifting and inspirational if I don't wake up a better person and more appreciative of everything I have in the morning, I suck as a person...and I don't plan on that happening. Its the only funeral I have ever been at that had a surprise last guest speaker. It was Mr. Wex in his own words leaving an inspirational message for everyone and there were hundreds in attendance. Mr. Wex passed of ALS and has not been able to speak on his own in months. It was shocking, sad and inspiring all at the same time to hear his words of advice and wisdom!

I read that he was married to Barbara for 73 years. Amazing.

When he was running for reelection in 1992 he came to our city. My older one was only 17 months old and my little younger one who was very premature was still in the NICU an hour away. I chose to go to see him and get back home to my older one rather than go to see the President. So many people I know went to see him.

He also spoke at one of my husband's conferences(in Boston), but we had the kids with us(they were like 8 and 9 at the time) and were not allowed in so again I did not get hear him speak. (We did hear his son speak at a different business conference in Las Vegas 3 or 4 years ago).

GHW Bush was a summer resident of Kennebunkport.
our family spent much time in the Maine coastal area....dear son is now a resident of that area.
the Bush family spent much time in town and were so very kind to all of the locals and tourists alike.
they always felt that they did not need or deserve the fanfare that their presence brought to the town.

we never saw them up close, but a few times from afar.
once in a restaurant and they came in after we were seated, and left before us.
we had a better view of Jeb and his wife than we did of 41 and Barbara.
surprisingly, everyone in the restaurant left them alone !

When I used to travel to the shipyard in Kittery for work, we would go to Kennebunkport several times a trip for beer and food. We drove out to Walker's Point one summer day and parked, getting a glimpse of the family walking the grounds. I found a piece of granite in their driveway that was a really cool shape. I took it and named it George, it sits on my desk at work now. RIP Mr. Bush, thank you for everything you did for our great country.

I'm sure if anyone tried to approach them, Secret Service would have stopped them. I doubt anyone would want to mess with Secret Service.
