.........and all those poor service people that lost their lives at Pearl Harbor 79 years ago today.....
At least five people have asked me today why I have my American flag pin on. I've actually gotten a couple of puzzled looks when I remind them that it is Pearl Harbor Remembrance Day, the "9/11" of my parents' generation. Understandable I guess but I find it disappointing.
My first flight to Seattle many eons ago was on December 7th. It was a very early flight with not many passengers. I guess the pilot was bored (at least he wasn't asleep!) so he came over the intercom and announced that we were having a quiz and the passenger with the most correct answers would get $25! I don't remember all five questions but it was about Pearl Harbor. Most people got three correct; a couple four; but I was the only passenger who got all five correct because I knew the answer to his last question. So let's see how attentive all of you were in History class (but your only reward will be a smiley face!):
On what day of the week did the attack on Pearl Harbor take place?
Sunday
Normally we would put the flag out today, but we had electricians, plumbers and our cleaning people here today and with everyone going in and out of the garage(and working in the garage), the flapping flag by one of the garage doors would have been distracting and something people would have to avoid while social distancing.
