So What Are You Doing This Fourth of July Weekend?

Or perhaps more accurately what aren't you doing?

Alas, I'll probably be in the office most of the weekend. Real estate has just gone crazy here! It's great to see all the overtime pay in my savings account (more trips to the Happy Island!) but honestly it's been nonstop since March. If the weather is nice, I'll set aside some free time to lounge in the sun in the backyard. I'm very pale! LOL!

It's the weekend. My normal schedule. Told them I come in early Saturday for a bonus plus holiday pay (double pay)
We will celebrate by going to breakfast (small mom/pop place) on Saturday am when I get off.
but will celebrate with his favorites foods on Sunday ordered his favorite bday cake from Stone Cold: will cook some nice rib eyes the grill , loaded baked potatoes and roasted corn on the cob
Like Lisa the over time in my check is looking nice... and i actually enjoy what I do so it makes it nicer.

It sounds like the weather will be okay, although cool, so we’ll spend the day out on the deck. I’ll set up the doggy pool as Maddy loves it and she’s fun to watch. I imagine we’ll be hearing firecrackers off and on as we’ve been hearing them for the past few weeks. Haven’t quite decided on the menu yet but leaning towards an afternoon of grazing. That means appetizers like shrimp cocktail, deviled eggs, various cheeses, smoked ham and some type of desert.

I completely forgot it was a holiday and invited a few girlfriends over for our first non-Zoom interaction in months. My husband and kids are working all weekend.

Fireworks are illegal in Virginia. The official firework displays are cancelled, we all know how fireworks displays over the ocean can cause covid infections. So we'll sit out back and watch all of the other homes in the area set off illegal fireworks.

Fireworks are illegal in Mass as well. Unfortunately, it doesn’t keep people from driving to NH for a purchase and bringing them home. We’ve had someone lighting them off at 10:00 pm most every night. Our neighborhood hasn’t been bad. So far the noise has been limited to 15 minutes or so BUT some neighborhoods have been dealing with it all night long.

we r doing our usual weekend routine.
water aerobics on Saturday and then we'll probably have a few friends over for some social distancing dogs, burgers, salads.
I have a large dining room which blends into the living room on one end and blends into the tv room/lanai on the other end.
we can accommodate 10 and still be far apart.
air will be cranked lower so that folks can wear their masks when not eating.

sunday, might be a beach day.
we may bring her as she loves digging in the sand and we will have plenty of shade for her.
we typically go to caddys at treasure island and get their early so we can be really spaced out well.

Monday afternoon we were invited to go tubing and jet skiing on the chain of lakes, but considering what lives in the lakes we will pass.

    happy Independence Day all!

Not a whole lot. David is off on Saturday because the new company he is with does mostly dialysis transport and they are closed. We will BBQ and maybe I'll bake although I am not in the mood to do so. Fireworks are planned, but the crowds and traffic are not worth it nor is the display as they spend less and less each year. They set them off about 2 miles from here, but because of the trees we cannot see them from the house but we can hear them. Individual fireworks are now legal in NJ and I am sure there will be plenty going off in the neighborhood. There have been issues for months with people shooting them off at randomly(7pm to 3am) at night freaking out animals and waking people and upsetting those with PTSD. Tons of complaints on NextDoor.

If it wasn't for the virus we would be on a train from Prague to Warsaw on July 4th.
