    Vegas; our other vacation TR

We arrived in Vegas on Wednesday after a 6 hour flight that seemed a lot longer. All was well when the Venetian limo driver met us at baggage claim. I can not say enough good things about the drivers or any of the Venetian employees, as each and everyone go out of their way to make sure you enjoy yourself. I love that they check in with the hotel on the ride over to make sure your room is ready. It was this trip. Last trip when it wasn’t ready the driver took us on a tour of downtown.

Not much time for gambling our first day as we arrived at 3:00: had to grab a late lunch and we were going to see Aerosmith. Now I’ve never been a big fan of Steve Tyler but Tom wanted to go so I got tickets. We were both kind of tired and knew when the show got over it would be a zoo waiting for a taxi so I asked Guest Services to set up a limo transport for us. This is definitely the way to do it. The show was wonderful; impressive lights; video history of the band while waiting for the show to start and some freaky characters walking through the audience, including a contortionist. Our seats were perfect with a clear view and Steve Tyler and the rest put on a superb show. I would definitely recommend it.

Thursday we gambled All Day and I lost All Day. The save to the day was lunch at the recently remodeled Delmonicos. We have dined here in the past but it never wowed us but boy did it wow us this trip. The remodel has made the space more welcoming and relaxed even though it’s an upscale spot. They tweaked the menu some and I don’t think I have ever had a better steak. The potato croquettes had the flavor of a twice baked on steroids and the dessert S’mores are just something you have to try.

Friday; This is the day I decided to be more disciplined with my gambling. We took breaks in between our gambling sessions; walking over to the Wynn to check out the Year of the Rat decorations and poking in shops along the Grand Canal at the Venetian followed with a stroll in St Marks Square. We ended back at the room at 3:00 and decided to stay there the rest of the day to relax and regroup. Happily up $500 for the day but knowing it doesn’t make a dent in the losses from the day before.

Saturday; this brings me up to date on my report. We’re meeting the host for lunch today so I didn’t want a big breakfast. The Bouchon Bakery has some amazing breakfast pastries and is convenient to the room so I ran down to grab a few so we could ease into the day. Did I say that the food options here at the Venetian are positively amazing?!

    WIN and enjoy!
When Aerosmith was a bunch of unknowns..........I used to watch them rehearse in an old warehouse in my hometown.

I hope that we get to Vegas sometime!!

Have a blast A profitable blast!

Nice start. I love the Venetian and they really cater to their guests. I would really enjoy seeing Aerosmith. Steven Tyler is a fantastic performer. It sounds like a perfect Vegas vacation. Enjoy and win big.

Your trip sounds amazing! We stayed at the Venetian about 15 years ago and stop in when we have been back. They do an amazing job. I am glad you are having a great time. Vegas has great shows and restaurants. People watching is a free show though and there are some interesting characters there.

We’ve been to Vegas six out of the last seven years, and plan on making on stop there this year, before we head to Denver for a convention. We will go to a concert or show, if it is something of interest. Everything is so grand there and well done.

Back in the room after gambling the bulk of the day. I jumped from machine to machine and decided to walk away when I was comfortably up and making up for some of the day 2 losses. Hopefully I will maintain this discipline over the next couple of days.

Lunch was at Chica, a Latin influenced restaurant by Chef Lorena Garcia. The host had invited us and it was nice to catch up. I had never been there when they were serving brunch so the menu was quite different. Tom and I both went with the breakfast burrito (scrambled eggs, rice, beans, Mexican string cheese, chorizo and chili sauce) perfect! I added a Bloody Marie with jalapeño infused tequila. Surprised I don’t need a nap.

We’ll probably hang out in the room for a bit and then maybe grab a seat at the bar at Grimaldi’s. This is a New York chain with amazing pizza. We like to sit at the bar where it is usually quiet and away from the craziness of the casino.

It’s been sunny and in the 60s, not exactly pool weather but definitely better than home where it’s in the 30s. We’ve gone out for fresh air a few times but we really should get out and walk around. I should say I’ll walk around, Tom has a scooter
