What’s the most unique present you’ve received?

Tom is the king of giving unique “interesting” gifts. This year has been no different. Don’t get me wrong I’m not unappreciative I love that he finds different products and it’s the thought that counts.

This year I received a Buddha Board. Never heard of it; have you? It’s a zen like, calming experience where you use a paintbrush to paint with water on the board. Your artwork then disappears almost as soon as you are finished. Some may find it frustrating, I found it amusing. You can always take a photo of your art if you want.

Another gift was the Shiatsu 3D rotating massager with heat. Tom thought I would find it relaxing. I put it over my shoulders and turned it on. It completely weirded me out as if felt like someone had just come up behind me and put their fingers all over my back. Maybe had I been forewarned it would have been okay. So, I suggested Tom try it on his back and he loved it. Perfect! Time to regift!

I should say that he also bought me some beautiful gifts but they wouldn’t be as much fun to describe as those above.

    Thanks Peggy for starting this..
My son got me a light weighted heated blanket.. I am always cold when I was at work.. love it but it would be too heavy to lug in and out.
Plus it would put me straight to sleep and a room size portable heater.. (they freeze us to death)

Got a new jeep compass 2017 ( early xmas gift fully loaded and very pretty) only 7,000 miles on it. Lou got me some mud flaps, bug shields and rain guards.. (loving it.. he details all my cars..)
I also got some amazing gifts too.. it really is the thought behind all these wonderful gifts I recieved
So grateful and blessed I have two guys that care for me..

We generally don't exchange gifts because we'd rather spend out money on doing things/going places. However; for my retirement my husband bought me a "star" complete with certificate and celestial map. It is really a different type of gift, and one that I am surprised he'd pick. For my birthday this year he gave me certificate for a hot air balloon ride. We've done them before and I think he bought it because he wanted to do it again. The strangest gift I ever got was a from a student many years ago. I must have gone in his grandmother's closet and pulled it out. It was used skirt in a size much larger than I was at that time. From the material that it was made of, I know it must have had a matching top at one point. The smelliest gift was a pocketbook(new) from a student. It reeked, I mean really reeked of cigarette smoke. I left it in the garage for two weeks and it did nothing to help minimize the smell. It was really not my style at all and I had planned to donate it, but I could not even do that because the smell of the cigarette smoke in the various fake leathers would not go away. The "hottest" gift I received was new Burberry umbrella from a student who received free lunch. He slipped and said they didn't buy it. I mother in law at the time love anything Burberry and I gave it to her because she was not shy about hinting she'd love to have one just like it.

a BUDDHA BOARD ......I love it.
    "practice letting go"

I am going to have to give this some thought.
you did not say "when" the unique gift had to be given, so I am thinking back a bit.
we did not exchange gifts this year.
we did buy a Instant Ace Blender (aka soup maker) a couple of weeks ago.
mostly we just buy things when we need them or want them.

I will come back to this thread after some thought.

While my gift story was Christmas based, this thread is not holiday related. It can be about any gift giving occasion.

‘’Tom has always had a knack for strange gifts. Forty years ago for our first Christmas together he bought me a beautiful pair of gold shell earrings. He also gifted me with a toilet brush!!!! Then one Valentine’s Day he gave me a gold pendant. I would best describe it as a round flat disc. On the front he had it engraved Maddy’s Mom; now remember, Maddy is our dog. On the back it is engraved Little Bugger because when Maddy misbehaves I call her a Little Bugger. The jeweler must have thought he was crazy!

Since 1980, and throughout the many changes, we still love going downtown in Oranjestad.

I've had the same problem for years when it comes getting the right gift for Donna. I mull it over, and just before I go out to pick up that perfect something for her, along comes Swiffer with a brand new model. Now they have one that squirts water.

Do you really think I'd do something that dumb? When we're in Aruba, I'm the guy who sits outside Gandelman's waiting for her to decide on something she'd like.

Truth be told, the one store we went to prior to Christmas was our local jeweler, Toodies. I picked out a beautiful bracelet for my gift. All the rest is fun stuff.

I recently bought my forever home. My nieces and nephew gave me a "Home Sweet Home" concoction to hang on the wall. It has my address on it and a google map with a heart indicating where my home is.
