Well, doesn't that just sound like so much fun! And don't think that includes duty-free shopping time!

There was a time maybe 8 or more yrs ago that they had 2 slot parlors at the airport!
They did not last long maybe 2 yrs.

Between shopping and slots it made the time pass quickly for some.

We liked it when they had the slot parlors at the airport. Even won some.

....wouldn't it be better if airport and airline and custom staff just started 30 minutes early....? Asking for a friend....!!!

I'll be coming home on a Friday. Will be interesting to see what that's like. In 2019 I came home on a Tuesday and it wasn't bad at all. But let's face it, everyday is probably a crap shoot now (sorry if I'm not supposed to use that word!). My flight leaves at 1:55pm so i was planning on a 10am departure from Manchebo. May readjust to 9:30 so I get to the airport AT 10am. I need time at Duty Free for cheese, Dutch cookies, Aruba Aloe gift sets (they were a big hit with friends and family last trip) and other "stuff".

Same here. I think we won both our 1st and 2nd trips, then they were gone.
The best trip is the next trip. Anxiously waiting to book something.

We came back on a Thu 4:30 flight and too 90 minutes to the gate. All areas had a wait except the two scan points but the JetBlue check in was the worst. Fortunately we had boarding passes and were able to save probably an hour over the folks that were lined up w/o pass to check in.

I am hoping all of this settles down for our trip in October because hubs and I have the typical "fly in on Saturday, leave on Saturday" flights booked and hearing these things about the lines coming and going makes me wanna throw up. We did get our Global Entry, so we will save ourselves some headaches there at least. My two adult sons and my father and stepmother are also going (their first trip! I'm so proud!), but they are coming and going Thursday to Thursday. I want their first Aruba airport experience to be positive, so I hope theirs is a little better because of the Thursday arrival and departure. Wouldn't want this whole thing to tarnish their impression of our favorite island!

You just never know how fast you'll get through. PreCovid, we left midweek one year and zipped right though. The next year, it took forever to get through. It all depends on how many people they have working at any given time.

I wish that all the stores they have between Aruban security and the US luggage room were in the terminal rather than before security.
