English translation of the Ministers announcement:
Statement from Dangui Oduber, Minister of Tourism:
ORANJESTAD - Air Canada is not flying to Aruba for the time being. According to the management, the flights are not profitable because many travelers cancel their flights. The reason for this is the increasing corona infections on the island.
According to the latest statistics, Aruba currently has more than 3000 corona infections. Tourism and Health Minister Dangui Oduber has expressed his concern about the situation and called on the population to do everything they can to prevent further infections. He fears that tourism will again be hit hard, just as the current high season is showing an almost complete recovery.
According to Oduber, with the increased number of cases, it is a matter of days, perhaps even hours, before the CDC will rank Aruba as code red (high risk) in their travel advice. “We are already dealing with a few hundred cancellations and the airline load factor has fallen from 75 to 60 percent, which is a very strong drop. If we don't reduce the number of active cases, our peak season will be in serious trouble."
Wow!!!!
Thanks for posting this Andrea and Aquaman,
I am not surprised at Air Canada's suspension of its service into Aruba, starting at the end of January. With Omicron cases skyrocketing in every part of Canada and in Aruba, as the Minister pointed out, suspension of air service was inevitable.
Hopefully, things will improve, starting in the spring of 2022 and we can enjoy service to our favourite island once again.

Thanks for posting this, John.
I guess it's no wonder why we've not returned to the island.
