We watched flights on Kayak, Hopper and United on our Aps since last February, looking for that sweet deal we gotten the past 13 years. Mid February, RT direct. Early AM departure and late day departute on a Saturdays with 2 aisle seats together side by side. We were willing to fly out of EWR, JFK or LGA, no luck. Always more than double of what we ever paid. We finally bit the bullet and paid dearly this month for our tickets. We feel all of your pain. We still torture ourselves and check our Aps each day. No luck, our desired flights don't even show up available at any price anymore.

What goes up must come down. Maybe not right away but eventually. Look at the car industry. Used car were super high and exaggerated in 2021, 2022 plus new cars selling at MSRP and some with dealer mark ups over MSRP. Now the dealers are starting to build up their inventory but guess what, no one is hardly buying. Supply up, demand low, prices go down...

We’re planning to go early June and since we haven’t made reservations yet our dates are flexible. Two business/First tickets are around $1500 ea. I’ve been looking for months and they haven’t budged and I don’t think they will. My husband said just book them, we’re not getting any younger. I think high airfare is here to stay with everyone flying again. Gone are the days when we booked for a total of $1680 for both of us. That was for our 2020 trip that was postponed ( we all know why ).

I agree. Don’t think airfares will come down for a long while sadly. Everything keeps going up. Don’t mean to go off topic but I was shocked when I got my car insurance bill!

I should be able to book our flights down for next year around the second part of February for early January. I'll probably use point since we have a ton of them but not enough for our other trips this year. But all flights are expensive everywhere. We are going to Frankfurt, Germany for a wedding the end of May-the tickets are crazy in $$$ and Lufthansa was less expensive than AA and flies direct. I am glad that we have a package with Viking for the other two trips. We'll have to pay to upgrade, but prices were so much lower when we booked the cruises.

I know a lot of you book first class and have direct flights available. We do not have any direct flights from Syracuse and we suffer in the main cabin. I just played around with Google Flights, with flexible travel days for departure and return, booking with different airlines. I can easily find round trip airfare for $500.00 or less pp. At least through 12/20/23. Of course, I did say flexible travel days, regardless of length of stay. We should all be retired

Yeah, we do first class, but we usually only fly once or twice a year and almost always have to connect. I spend enough time in coach for work, to have to be there for pleasure. We were talking about it and we can afford it, so just buy it and move on to lodging. Which is also becoming quite expensive. For all those miles I log in coach I also spend a lot of nights in hotels. So this trip our time other than Surf Club will be covered with points.
