We ended up cutting our trip short because of airfare. Flying Sunday to Sunday was significantly lower than flying in on Saturday and leaving on Tuesday (our nonstop options are only available on certain days. That Saturday before we leave is going to be longest day ever.

For all those miles I log in coach I also spend a lot of nights in hotels. So this trip our time other than Surf Club will be covered with points.
I flew to Aruba by myself to meet girlfriends there. Left hubby at home. The 1st time I flew first class was like, “why have I not done this before”! Fast forward to when I wanted to introduce hubby to the island I fell in love with and celebrate his birthday there (March 2020). We all know what happened and our trip didn’t happen till 2 yrs. later. He loved first class, not for the food or drinks, but not being crammed into your seat and not having to weigh my luggage LOL! We don’t fly often and it’s a splurge we can afford, after all it’s Aruba!

We didn't shorten the trip... but seriously downgraded rooms from ocean front to garden view. The ocean front rooms were approx 250 more per night than last year. The garden view is still more than we paid last year at about 60 per night.... Sorry you had to shorten the trip after so long being away. We'll be forced to face a shorter trip next year.....if we even go.

We understand completely. We’ve stayed at Manchebo for 11 or 12 nights this past year on our trips. We looked at going again in March for my husbands birthday and the price was out of reach. Now we’re looking at early June and going for 12 nights. Our first 5 nights will be somewhere economical ( CPVR or Sunset Beach Studios ) and then 7 nights at Manchebo ( either a garden or ocean front room ). I’ve stayed at CPVR many times with friends and like it, even tho it’s not near the beach. We rent a car so that doesn’t really matter. I guess this will be the new normal for us since we love Aruba.

I had been looking to return in May as our last trip was Nov/Dec 2019. While I can switch the dates around and find flights with prices I can live with, the flight times aren’t great. The arrival time isn’t terrible although later than we’re used to, but the return flight doesn’t land in Boston until after 10:00 pm. It’s much nicer to get home by 6:00 pm like in the past. Along with the flight challenges, the increased rates at Manchebo are awful. So… I’ve just decided to skip it all together; at least for now.

Over the years we have stayed at CPVR 3x.
    We liked it.
We were in an end unit abutting a home where the residents had chickens and a rooster.
OMG the rooster was loud most mornings at about 3 am.

I think that CPVR has more amenities than Sunset Beach, but Sunset Beach is in a great location and very very very laid back.
My only experiences at Sunset Beach were in the units in the front and on the side.

We’ve kind of given up on Vegas as well; flying has gotten to be a pain. Mohegan is the best bet and who knows, maybe Aruba later in the year.

Last minute booking, navigated for 5 days....I know , tell me about it, for a little over $500 pp JetBlue from JFK for next Saturday. And they were the flight times we lean towards, the early morning flight gets you in by 12:30. I'll take short over nothing!
