I think the funniest thing is when they spout their conspiracy theories and I give them back logic. They then change the subject or get upset or can't seem to put a sentence together.

I was talking to a guy that was called for an estimate to do work at my husband's office complex. Total antivaxer, conspiracy theorist, scripture quoting. For every argument, I had a better reply. He says "God will protect me" I say God gave us the vaccine. I also tell him that the bible says we must do everything to save a life and getting the vaccine saves lives. He changes the subject to microchipping-I told him if everyone had microchips then when I am old and senile they won't have to issue a Silver Alert when I go missing. I also said it would reduce crime because if everyone was chipped, they would know who was where when and easily know who committed the crime. He says, something about the government knowing where you are. I told him if I am not doing something wrong, then what is the problem? He mumbles something to the effect of "they will figure out a way to take it out of their body" and then tells me to have a good day and gets in his truck. I love making these people squirm with logic.

My former chiropractor. Even before covid he lead a march against required school vaccinations in NJ. Over several visits: He says stuff like "why get the vaccine if it doesn't prevent you from getting the virus, only dying from it'. Me -Not dying is high on my list. Him: Do I think covid started in a lab or the wet markets. Me: I really don't know and I don't think we will ever know. Him: Obama had them researching this type of virus when he was president in the Carolinas. The Democrats and China worked together to spread the virus to get Trump out of office. Me: I don't know whether the virus came from the wet markets or the labs in China. If it came from the labs it could be accidental-someone not following protocols. If it was on purpose, maybe it was because China was upset that Trump put the tariffs on the goods coming out of China. His reply "Isn't so and so your cousin?"(a state senator and friend of the chiropractor). Me: yep-his mother is my first cousin, I babysat for him and change his diapers as a baby and I also taught with his mother-in-law for many years. Him: Did you vote for him? Me; yes he is family. I have not been back to the chiropractor and did not vote for my cousin in this November's election since he has made his antivax feeling know publically.

Wow! I love your spirit and love that you had an answer for each statement. You go girl! So frustrating being with people like that. We all have them in our lives!!!

Here's a good karma story. My brother and SIL are friends with a couple who are anti-vaxxers, into the conspiracy theories, etc. One of their sons (they have 3) had leukemia a few years ago, is in remission, and not vaccinated. Go figure - he went through chemo with all that poison in this body, but won't take the vaccine because he doesn't know what's in it. {head slap} Anyhow, the wife broke her shoulder recently. The local hospital would not treat her because she is not vaccinated. She had to go elsewhere. Now the wife and two of the boys have COVID (not the one who had leukemia).

I'd like to make a comment back to Andrea's original post about masking, social distancing, etc, if there now:

I just returned from a wonderful week at Costa Linda. I barely left the resort except for 2 trips to Superfoods (masks required) and out to dinner only 3 out of 7 nights at OUTDOOR dining options only. Please no harsh comments back, this is just an observation during my stay. Not many people wearing masks at all (I'm talking about tourists, not locals/staff). I was very disappointed, as the numbers are going up. I still wore my mask everywhere, and I refused to get in the elevator with others that were not masked. I gave up on the elevator by day #2, and used the stairs (bonus - exercise!). And social distancing...don't get me started, everywhere I drove past or walked by or tried to go to dinner was packed!! So I distanced myself, lol, and ordered takeout/delivery. Not a big deal for me, as I am so busy at home, any downtime is welcomed time. Jut meant earlier to bed and earlier to the beach ;-)

we returned on the 16th.
we were glad to comply with the mask mandate and we too ate outdoors at every chance.
(casa tua, lindas pancakes and hung paradise 2x) we did eat indoors at Bavaria 2x and felt like we were distanced well.
at the airport both arrival and departure, we saw lots with masks below noses.
at superfood and lings we too saw most masked properly.

the casinos....they were reminding lots to mask up.

yes indeed..............earlier to bed and earlier to the beach!!

My sister in law and niece both had covid last year 2020 and were sick in bed for weeks with headaches, fever, body fatigue the works. My niece got vaccinated this year which was mandatory as she works in a hospital as an aide. Her Mother who works in a school as a teachers assistant refused to get vaccinated and kept saying she had covid already so is immune.

Now 2021 recently both my niece and sister in law contracted the Delta Virus. My vaccinated niece was sick at home for 3 days and my sister in law was very sick for 3 weeks. My brother took off work for a week to care for his wife. He told me she was so weak that she could not even get out of bed. Now week 4 she is finally recovering. I said to her, you see now why the vaccine is important. She answered, no thanks. She just doesn't get it!

My brother received 2 pfzser vaccines and a booster. Tested negative for covid several times besides being exposed to his covid wife and daughter as well as several of his employees who tested positive.

Please, please, please, no vax shaming! This doesn’t help the situation! I agree you can get get any answer you want on the internet, but the best thing is to encourage a one on one face to face conversation with your doctor. Everyone has opinions and just because you may not agree, does not make them wrong and you right or vice versa. Finally, I don’t believe a vaccine debate has any place on this awesome Aruba forum. As long as residents of Aruba and visitors to Aruba follow the guidelines set by the Aruban government we should take care of ourselves and let others do the same. Rant over, have a great 2022!
