    Strange Airfare Pricing

Looking at treating our daughter, son-in-law and granddaughter to 1st class air. Here's an example of what I'm seeing.

If I do 2 travelers, the price is $1,366 PP. If I do 3 travelers, the price jumps to $1,790 PP.

Anyone ever experience this, something similar, or an understanding of why it's happening?

Only do I passenger at a time otherwise it will show you just the higher price ticket,if they have 1 seat available at the lower price and you put in for 2 people it will only show the higher price especially for 1st class limited number of seats. When booking always do one at a time

I just went through this in booking our united first class seats. Now going there were two tickets available at a great price so I booked both on the same confirmation #. But coming home, there was one at a great price so I booked that for me. Then a couple of days later they had 1 ticket available at a great price, so I booked that for my husband. So we have 3 confirmation #'s, one for going and two for coming back. Same thing happened for my SD. she is coming for a week. so they book one way cause it was cheaper than round trip. then coming home, there was one ticket cheap but 2 of them were expensive. so they booked the one coming home, waited and then eventually the airline released another ticket cheap so she booked that. It is a game. It doesn't matter how many confirmation #'s you have as long as you are all on the same plane on the same day at the same time, lol.

See, if they have one good price ticket but you put in for 2 people, the airline isn't going to tell you that you can get one of those for a cheaper price. No, they are just assuming most people put in for the 2 going and won't bother looking. We never do. We put in for one person. If they happen to say there are 2 tickets available, then we do it on one booking. If not, then we do it individually. There is always going to be another ticket available with a week.

I have seen this a lot. The airline is only providing so many tickets at a given price and then jack the price up when you exceed that number. In this case, only two available at the lower price. You could book the two and then book the 3rd. You may get the 3rd at the lower price if you use a different computer/e-mail.
    The games they play !!!

Thats very nice of you, Joe and Mimi. I take it you’re not traveling on this trip...if you are I hope you take the first class seats for yourself! LOL.

When looking for airfare I always look for one ticket at a time for that simple reason.
