Thomas Cooke Travel Collapses

I know Thomas Cooke used to be a big player in booking trips to Aruba from the UK. Not sure if they still are but unfortunately it doesn't matter because they're history. If they are, there may be some resorts on the island which find themselves with available rooms:

I just came on to post this. Unfortunately, they have left over 600,000 passengers stranded.

Apparently the whole Brexit thing has taken its toll.

I believe they were still booking to Aruba. I know they were booking to Las Vegas. Lots of people from the UK booked holiday packages with them. Also feel bad for the employees! If the number is correct, they’re saying 20,000 out of a job.

Really a shame. But good to read that the government is offering assistance and compensation. And hardening back to the thread a few seems ago, prime example of why trip insurance is a good investment!

got some friends (we are cat sitting their fur babies) that are on a Thomas Cook tour to the British Isles.

their tour and hotel vouchers are not being honored effective yesterday. they arrived on Saturday

they have spoken with AMEX (the credit card company used to purchase the trip/tours/air/hotels) and AMEX told them to rest assured.

these folks have now booked some tours and are well into enjoying their British Isles trip.

and will be flying home into Orlando in 2 weeks on Iceland Air.

The only complaint is now...rainy weather.

On the news last night they showed people stranded at airports. I can't imagine getting stranded far from home.
