Before we leave home I usually download a movie that I know my husband wouldnt want to watch, so I can pass the time. He listens to music and somehow sleeps. I'm usually too excited. That's usually our first leg. On the 2nd flight we usually get the Aruba party started with a few drinks and talk about our plans.
We are different in that we really dont mind the layover. We dont always have a nonstop option but the stop breaks up the trip for us. We both get a little antsy anytime we are traveling longer than 3-4 hours.

I really think someone needs to come up with a shot or pill that you taken the minute you sit down on the plane and then when you hit the runaway in Aruba, it wakes you up. That person would be a Billionaire!!!!!
I use to not be able to sleep on moving things but years ago I started going on a fishing boat for 2 days and 2 nights. Well guess what? I learned to sleep on moving things so I am able to sleep at least half of the trip. Then I just start dreaming about Aruba!!
Snorkel Mangel Halto, day or night with a waterscooter. Check out our website. E-mail Alex at arubabob@live.com or call Alex local: 745-7459 Or visit: www.arubabobsnorkeling.com 53rd trip Dec 5, 2018.

Can't really sleep on a plane just a couple minutes here and there...but a grey goose and sprite goes pretty good to help relax. Mostly we read or listen to music cause the Jet Blue movies aren't something I like to watch usually

We usually are in first class to Aruba so I always have the obligatory "I'm on vacation Bloody Mary" during the boarding process. After that we eat (breakfast on the first leg and lunch on the second) while watching a movie or two from the plane's selections (Delta has tons of movies to pick from - new ones plus some great classics), doze a bit (I usually sleep during the first flight from MSP-ATL). When I wake up, stretch my legs by standing/walking a bit, and end with a Prosecco before landing.

This year for our NYE trip we trying Delta's new non-stops from MSP which they only have during high season. Will be interesting because I actually don't mind the layover in Atlanta because it gives me a chance to stretch my legs a bit and wake up from my nap on the first flight.

My husband had such a fear of flying he would not fly for the first 25 years of our marriage!! These days Valium makes travel possible, plus it helps him to sleep on the flight!

First class does make it more bearable, Amy. We always fly first class. The only thing I can't do is switch planes or a layover. I know some people have no choice but I prefer to pay more to fly direct.

Gaby, I am totally with you, we only fly direct! Partially because Tom would hate a connecting flight and partially because it just takes so much longer to get there.

We always fly direct and will pay more for a direct if/whenever possible. Out of the all the trips we take every year, Aruba is generally the only one where we need to do a layover because we like to go to in Aruba in off season instead of high season when hotel/airfares are less expensive. Out of MSP we only have directs to Aruba from late December through Easter and only on Saturdays with Delta - we normally avoid Saturdays at all costs when flying to Aruba because of the congestion at the airport. So we are happy with our layover in Atlanta - plus in first class we get breakfast on the first leg and lunch on the second leg so we are taken care of. LOL!! But we always take non-stops everywhere else within the U.S., Mexico, and Europe out of MSP.
