We have the Marriott booked from August 27-Sept 5. No flights yet, and we can cancel up to 14 days prior with no penalty, so we are sitting tight right now. I feel so terribly for those of you with more recent upcoming trips, and especially for those of you who were stranded.

Since 1980, and throughout the many changes, we still love going downtown in Oranjestad.

We are booked to go to Aruba October 11-18, 2020 and it is still on schedule. That's a little over 6 months from now, so hopefully life will be back to normal, or as close to it as we can get.

I cannot deprive everyone of another scintillating, uplifting, informative, enrapturing, (I'm running out out superlatives here.) and incredibly well-crafted trip report. That would just be cruel.

I have not cancelled my May trip- waiting for JB to cancel my flight so I can get my $$ back as I do not want it banked- not sure we will be flying with them ever again. Too many fees with them now and the fact they cancelled people’s return flights without notice and no way to get off the island has left me with bad feelings towards them again. I work in a grocery store and have seen people coming in family units, couples, groups of teenagers so I have seen the “ social distancing” order first hand. I can reassure you that the curve will not be flattened here in the states until people take the order seriously. I live in Massachusetts where the governor shut down all but essential businesses- funny thing is everyone thinks they are an essential business now. I am disgusted with all the blatantly selfish people I witness daily putting themselves first and disregarding the health of others. If you really need something send 1 person out to get it.

So sad. Just cancelled our May trip to the Surf Club and the Marriott hotel. Obviously due to the virus craziness but I am also going in for neck surgery tomorrow to fix 3 herniated discs and hope to get back to my favorite island soon!!

Hope the surgery goes well, jeffney. Are they doing spinal fusion? I went through that 12 years ago for two discs up near my neck. They used titanium to fuse them together. Was sure I'd set off the alarms going through airports! When you are feeling better (and you will!), Please let us know how it went!
