Hello!
I am from the U.S and my husband has lived in Aruba his entire life (and is a permanent resident w/ a Dutch passport). We got married in Aruba last year. We weren't sure if we were going to apply for him to come to the U.S, but we decided that it would be best if I come live in Aruba with him. We are probably about a year or so away from doing that because I am finishing a schooling program/ saving money.
What is this process like and when should we begin this process? I have looked at the DIMA website and saw some info, but I can tell (since it is translated from Dutch) there are things that are very vague. It seems like they just want you to come in person and make an appointment? Also we are thinking of buying property together, so my name would be listed on that - not sure if that would help or hurt.
Also, I have heard it can be quite challenging to get a work permit. I have a marketing degree and have worked at several upscale restaurants and hospitality management companies here in a major U.S city. Can anyone let me know what this process is like? We really just want to be with each other, start a family etc. Any help would be MORE than appreciated.
I am coming to Aruba in mid- March and would also love to meet up with anyone for a drink/coffee while I am down there!
xoxo Katie
