since we rent a house, we pack a box with things like coffee, full size toiletries, peanut butter, coffee filters, sugar, etc, snacks. Then after we unpack it, we throw the box away. we don't pay for baggage but since we do only carry on (have washer/dryer), we don't mind checking the box going to aruba. Aruba's baggage claim is like a breeze. Our problem would be collecting your baggage in Newark Airport, which is a disaster.

Jacki, you should consider bringing stuff in a box and this way if you have to pay, its only one way....

Totally makes sense, but somehow we don't ever have "extra" space in the luggage coming home???

you would not need extra space coming home
all the stuff would be used in aruba.
50 lbs is a good amount fo stuff!!
but since paying for a "supply" checked bag for one way going to aruba, you'd have to make ertain that you'd have significant savings by bringing your own.

Oh I understand, but I do bring supply stuff and food stuff and we do consume/use it so therefore I should have extra room in luggage coming home, right? Nope - never do!
