    Glass Studio

    https://lavastudioaruba.com/

I couldn't sleep last night and was looking on Google Maps at Aruba and saw they opened the glass studio they were building. They call it Lava Studio Aruba, but the signs previously said Murano Glass. If you go to SuperFoods and take the dirt road that begins at the end of the parking lot it looks like you can get there. It looks like they make some nice items. Here is a map.

I know there is another place in Ayo area-between the rock formation and the Ostrich Farm that does similar work.

Some how I saw an item about this new glass studio in Aruba. On our recent visit the first week of December we stopped. They are in the process of setting up tours, but were not quite set up yet. A very nice gentleman showed us the work area but the workers were on break at the time we were there. The show room was open and we viewed the items on display. They had some unique items. These items were for sale.

I would recommend that you stop to view the art glass in the show room and consider a tour if they are set up when you visit. See the website address above.

I stopped here the other day. Wow. They have some amazing blown glass. Most of it is very beautiful and some just quirky and fun. They have vases, glasses with matching pitchers, bowls, decorative pieces, some jewelry, some picture frames and more. There are three area. When you first walk in to the right is a small cafe. Directly in front of you, behind glass doors is the area where the make the glass. You can go in and watch or watch from the large entry way. To the left is their huge gallery. No, it is not inexpensive, but really worth checking it out.

It takes a lot of talent and skill to make some the pieces they make there. I have watched similar work being done and hope to go back to just watch. They said they can do custom pieces but it is you have to work out with them.

I told here that there was a place near me at home that you can pay and they guide you through making your own item-usually a small vase, small bowl, ornament, paperweight(Stu and I both made paperweights years ago), etc. and I asked if they are doing that here. She said they just opened up a month or two ago, and they are not doing that, at least not yet.
