Maybe you could work with a company where you could get a car for a couple of days and a jeep for a couple. Maybe you'd get a good rate for both since you'd be renting for the "week".

That's a good thought.
Here is the crazy thing...a jeep for a full week with insurance is about $80 more than the same rental for 4 days. What I'm learning is that if you want to rent anything, you are better off doing a 3 day rental or going to the full week to get the best rates.
The next thing we considered was doing a car for the first few days then if we really get the urge for off road, rent a utv for a day.
I can understand that. And if you’re anything like me, you’ll find yourself saying “well since we have it we HAVE to get up and go here or do this” to get your money’s worth. But I also think some part of you really wants to try out the jeep. Maybe a few days in the middle of the trip so it’s more lax on the beginning and end of the trip?
what I really HATE is making plans.
my life, even retired is on a schedule.
in Aruba, all I plan to do is BEACH and dinner.
those are the only plans I like to make.
well, meeting up with friends is great too.
I like kinda flying by the seat of my pants.
I own a jeep so here is another perspective. I think you would lose your mind if you had a surprise rain storm and had to put the top back on quickly. I have a hard top and soft top....I HATE the soft top and never use it because they are a pain to put on in a rush.....I just pop off the partial top if I want more sun.
