    Take the taxi.
More comfortable than the bus and with airco.
Short 5 min ride with no traffic.

Since 1980, and throughout the many changes, we still love going downtown in Oranjestad.

    Good morning,

"Clang, clang, clang went the trolley; ding, ding, ding went the bell." I wanted to ride the trolley on a previous visit but my wife was afraid I would embarrass her by breaking out into my best Judy Garland.

After some chat about it when it was being built, it seems to have become another part of the Aruba-scape.

In any event, have fun on the trolley.

also.........the trolley schedule is erratic (sort of)
    often it is not running.

I would say that the best time to ride the trolley is when a cruise ship is in port. (the "freewinds" does not count as those ship's passengers are not tourists)
The trolley usually runs when there is a ship in O'stad as port of call.

FYI the trolley is currently parked because of road works in the mainstreet behind Royal Plaza. I'm not sure when they will start up again as they havn't yet announced it.

All this is very helpful, my understanding it runs on a regular schedule and on a daily basis but clearly this is not the case. Any way to check online the schedule for the day or whether its even in operation? Thank you!

I have never seen a trolley schedule.
I am not even sure that one exists.

As Arawak said in post #5, the trolley is not running now due to road construction.
I would advise you to check back in a month or so.
Also, the trolley does run when there are cruise ship(s) in port.
Click below link to see the cruise ship schedule for Aruba from now til the end of 2018.
