    Our first extended stay...

We are new owners planning to spend our first winter on the island .
After reading what I can find out about extending your stay, I'm not sure how to go about it.

The first question is about the ED card. I plan to stay for 4 months so what should I put for my return
date when filling out the ED info? What is the furthest date I can put down and get a return flight for?

I know I need proof of a return flight and a medical insurance policy to cover my time there, and proof of ownership.
I thought there was a form I could fill out online so I could extend my stay but I can't find one.

What do any of you do when you are staying for months?
    Thank You
    Pam

My Daughter use to stay 3 or 4 months with me and she is not a Resident. When you get there, you can ask the Aruba Customs where you go to file a extension. Most friends I know that go for 3 or 4 months, they don't do anything but some times they will tell you when you are coming or going at the airport, that you need to get a extension. But we never did that so I don't know where you need to go.

The longest that we have ever stayed is seven weeks, and that is what we entered on the ED Card. We have never been instructed to do anything else on arrival, to date. We always bring a copy of our deed and tax number ID cards with us.

I have been there up to 100 days and will be this year. I fill out the form and wait to see what happens at customs. I have, so far, never had an issue. I think the form asks if you own it or not, but I can't remember for sure. I know we can be there up to 180 days.

FLPCTC...will you have a return air ticket bought already?
the ED process will ask for your returning flight # and the date.
I would fill out the ED form, including the correct dates.
If they flag you for more information, then so be it.

Bring the ownership stuff that Steve recommended!

If you need a definitive answer before you leave, contact the IASA (Instituto Alarma y Seguridad Aruba).

I wouldn't hold my breath waiting for an email response so your best bet is to try calling.

    Hi Robin
Are you talking about the ED form? That's what I was wondering about, what to put on for a date since it is over 90 days. Should I put it in for 89 days
since I read you need approval for 90 days or more? I would need to make my return flight now according to what I will put on the ED and have med. ins.
for as long as I plan to stay. Guess I will have to change my return flight if I put down an earlier date on the ED which is OK. My plan is to stay Dec12-April 12 .
Thank You and feel free to email or text if it's easier to correspond.
We will have to make plans to get together in Our Happy Place ....Maybe Aruba Ray show?

I put in the dates and just see what happens. We have only been there over 90 days once or twice. We are coming in Dec. 22-Mar. 31. Yes, we surely should get together. Just put down the dates you are going to be there. If there is an issue, they will tell you at the airport.
