"January 21, 2021 – 61 new cases of COVID-19 reported and 26 recoveries. Active cases increase to 558. The total number of active COVID-19 coronavirus cases has increased to 558 (529 residents and 29 visitors) with 61 new cases (59 residents and 2 non-residents), and 26 recoveries. The total cases to date is 6623 (6359 residents and 264 visitors). The total recovered is 6013 (5778 residents and 235 visitors). The number of persons tested, including visitors, is now 78585 of which 47514 were persons tested at the airport. The positivity rate among residents is 14%. The number of deaths related to COVID-19 is 52 (all residents). There are currently 34persons hospitalized, 11 of whom are in intensive care."

The number of those hospitalized (34) is the highest that I can remember. Recovery is still not in sight.

I think the rise in covid cases is tied in with the holiday gatherings from November, December into New Years as is the case in the states. Today in the news they stated that for the first time the cases in California are going down and Dr Fauci said that it appears we are starting a downward curve. Hopefully that will be the case everywhere in the world and with the new vaccines there is some hope.
