    65% of those residents tested were positive

    From FRESH Aruba Radio

    Today's numbers . 1,162 new infections have been detected (1,046 among residents, local infection rate 65%) and 759 people have recovered . The total number of active cases is now 3,730. On average, there are 740 new cases per day with an average daily local infection rate of 63%. There are 21 Covid patients in hospital, three in ICU . Three patients still in ICU in Colombia .

    I think that the hospitalization numbers are proof that this variant is milder than the others!
    Grateful for that I guess.

    That was my thought as well, Andrea. While the infection rate is staggering, look at the number who have recuperated. And no change in hospital numbers. They'll reach herd immunity long before the U.S.

    There was a physician/professor at USF on the news tonight that talk about how this variant is exploding and how the symptoms are much milder than the original and the Delta variants.
    He talked of the vaccines and how they are doing their jobs!
    He seemed to be optimistic that this whole thing would kind of morph into a variant much like the flu or the common cold.
    He used the words "burns itself out."
