    Residents + 18

    Non Residents + 14

16% of those residents tested, were positive.

Sorry that I have to start this up again.

Thanks for the info. Sad to see. I'll be cancelling my August trip sadly. Just too much for me to stomach. Happy I was able to go when I did.

Rightfully so, with all of the recent tourists testing positive, we'd certainly be anxious, waiting for the results.

What is not good is the active cases keep doubling week to week. We read on Curacao Chronicle today that most of the cases are being discovered at the airport. That includes citizens who are returning from somewhere else. The article said everyone will now have to test....not clear but I presume it means residents who have been vaccinated if they are returning from 'somewhere else'

This is a prime example of why Aruba should continue to test *everyone* on arrival, no matter vax status.

If I read the stat's correctly, looks like at least 48 unlucky tourists tested positive while on island this week (number of active non-resident cases increased to 79 from 31, but the 48 doesn't account for any of the 31 who recovered this week and have left the island). So it seems it's somewhere between 48 and 79.

We have plans to go in mid-Sept. Still leaning that way, but will depend on data that comes out in the next 45 days or so.

I thankfully picked up 3 negative test results this morning so we are good to fly home tomorrow. These new numbers are disturbing and would have me rethinking if we were going. I was thinking about coming back in a couple of weeks solo as I still have free air, free food at the ritz and a free room at the courtyard...but I think I am going to pass despite my wife being just fine with me coming back.
Trip 33 begins on July 15.

I'm supposed to leave for Aruba on Aug. 3rd. Everything is all set, appt. for Covid test scheduled for next Saturday morning. I had resolved I wouldn't worry about that and just go with the flow. If I'm meant to go, I'll get there. But these quickly-rising numbers have me a bit freaked out. Yes, I'm fully vaccinated. Yes, they are rising quickly in the US as well. But I don't have to go through one of the busiest airports in the world (JFK) and get on a plane full of people I know nothing about. I can pretty much control my environment at home and work. As much as I hate the thought, I think I'm going to have to have a serious discussion with my cousin this weekend (she's coming down for six of the ten days I'm there). At this point, I won't lose my deposit at Manchebo; Black Pearl doesn't actually charge you for their cruise until the day of; can cancel the one dinner rez I've made at Taste of Aruba; and pretty sure I can get another eCredit for my airfare (that's the one I'm not sure about; have to check with Delta). And then there's the factor of as much as I want to go on vacation and to Aruba again, is this really worth all the worry and expense (for things I won't get back). Is a vacation really worth this much stress and the "unknown"? Not asking for an answer; just expressing my thought process. I have some serious soul searching to do this weekend.
