Go Lisa! Don't stay home because of a bunch of what-ifs. I think you'll be as safe in Aruba as you could be anywhere else. And we're all gonna need a trip report by then

You know what, Walt, you're right!
Priscilla and I had a long talk last night. Unless something happens beyond our control, we are going!
Chuck, your post about a plane full of people who just tested negative really was something I hadn't thought about. It helped me a lot.
Trip reports will start after my Covid tests on Saturday. Yes, we're both getting two. We really, really need beach time!

aren't there still some people who choose to test upon arrival to aruba at the airport? these people could be a possible threat on the plane.

yes, aruba still offers testing upon arrival and then the person quarantines til there are result usually within less than 10 hrs.

at least on the plane and in the airport ...masks are being worn. (well, sort of)

Glad you decided to go Lisa, have a great time! Like you, I was also on the fence about our trip back in May (truth be told, I'm now on the fence again about our next trip at the end of August!). I wasn't worried about being in Aruba (felt safer there than here at home), it was more the travel to get there that made me anxious. We were there in October & December 2020, and we took all precautions, wore our masks everywhere, even walking to/from beach. In May, things were a bit more relaxed, but we still wore our masks when coming into contact with others (residents and visitors).

As for the air travel, my family will say I went overboard on the "protect ourselves" part, but I did what I thought was best for us. We all wore 2 masks (surgical mask with a KN95 over that), a face shield (to protect eyes), and I did my "clorox thing" as soon as we boarded the plane. As I write this, I do realize my family was right and I went overboard, but I felt justified, when the guy sitting in front of us was hacking and coughing all over the place for the entire flight, & of course his mask down around his chin!~And whether they like it or not, we will be doing the same thing in August. And we're all fully vaccinated. So if you see a family practically wrapped in bubble-wrap at the PHL or AUA airport at the end of the summer.....that's us, lol!

LOL! I just ordered a box of KN95 masks from amazon last night! And the wipes are ready to go for a "wipe down" when I board. Don't care what kind of looks I get...
I also upgraded to 1st class in part so I wouldn't feel so much like a sardine crammed into a can! Okay, that was really mostly just to treat myself, but as Walt said, I'll probably never want to go back to coach!

Chuck, one of the first things I'll be doing after checking in at Manchebo (maybe before depending on how the travel day goes!) is plopping myself down at Pega Pega and ordering a Bright! :-)
