I prefer not to think about it. I'm there for the beach, food, and drinks. As far as I'm concerned it's paradise and I turn a blind eye to everything else.

Somewhat. Our Aruban neighbours on the island always roll their eyes when the topic comes up. Kind of like everywhere else in the world. Lots of bravado and questionable practises around the awarding of contracts. My sense is that many Arubans don't have faith in their government to properly govern. But, just like North Americans, most people seem too lethargic to do anything about it.

We were on the island during their last election. We didn't pay much attention to it, but the locals were all over it. I remember two bartenders arguing with each other about who was best for PM at Pelican Nest.
