Verizon charges are ridiculous. I rented a phone but got it the day after we got there. I made a few calls the night we got there from my verizon phone. those few calls cost more than the rental of 10 days of a phone on aruba. rent a phone...

I work for Telus Mobility in Canada, last year I took my iphone to Aruba and thru on a calling pkg for $10 which discounted the rate to $2.25/min from $3.00/min... very expensive which I only called twice home to my husband...... lol to make sure my dog was doing ok without me.... and also put on a international text messaging pkg for $20 and since I have unlimited texts that worked out well for me. This year I will have to put a data block on my BB cause the data plans are outragous. I would rather buy internet time for the small amount of emails and facebook while there.
    Looking forward to trip #3

I have used my verizon phone in aruba and wham...get home and have a HUGE bill 300.00
the roaming charges will kill you... I am thinking this trip of either getting a phone down there or just a calling card for the few times I have to call home and check in with kiddos.

Verizon charges $1.99/minute for talking and .50 per text for sending and .25 per text for receiving. I used my phone while in Aruba but knew the charges ahead of time so it wasn't as much of a shock when I got the bill!!

Calculate that the charges with any mobile phone rental company on Aruba will be .24¢ to .22¢ on outgoing to USA and Canada. All incoming calls are free. This is the standard.

Has anyone had a good experience to share in renting a cell phone in Aruba lately? Thanks.
