    Conch shells

Tom found a pretty cool conch shell on the beach. Anyone know if we are allowed to take it home? I have a bunch of tiny little shells I plan to take but don’t want to push my luck

    Unsure if allowed
However we have brought plenty home and never questioned about them... then again never offered up the info that they were in our checked bag.

I've brought a few home (along with baggies full of small shells and even some sand so I could make a little diorama to remind me of the Happy Island in cold Connecticut!). I just kind of buried them in the middle of my checked suitcase in a shoe bag. Go for it!

The conch shell was pretty heavy so I decided to take a photo and leave it for others to enjoy. I did collect a bunch of tiny white shells that while basically the same shape they had different spirals. For some reason I found more shells here than at other hotels.

I believe it is illegal but have never encountered a problem. Shells are how new sand is created. Never take any coral. Not knowing, I picked up some fan coral on the beach in Florida one year. Couldn't figure out what the smell in the bathroom was and it was the coral. Coral is live animals.
