Sorry - the text is very small - it says:

    We're Going Strawless!

Did you know? According to National Geographic Americans alone use 500 million straws daily and 8 million tons of plastic trash flow every year into our world's oceans. While plastic drinking straws are not the top contributor, these unnecessary tiny tubes have become a huge problem for our beautiful islands and the creatures that call them home. Their size makes them one of the most insidious polluters because they entangle marine animals and are consumed by fish.
That's why we've decided to ditch the straws at all of our resorts, effective immediately as part of our ongoing Divi Cares, Divi Green initiative.
At Divi Resorts, we're committed to reducing our carbon footprint and protecting our environment, so we hope you'll join us in the #strawfree movement!

I saw on the news last week a state in U.S. can't remember which one is going to be doing this as well. It is good but also sad that it needs to be done because people are careless, lazy and liter and just don't care about what their actions cause.

Was just in Cabo San Lucas, it is enforced there. There are signs all over about how it affects the wild life. As much as I love a good straw I'm happy to forego...or atleast resorts should switch to the biodegradable paper types! I'm sure many others will follow in the Divi's footsteps!

The Divi AI was doing it when we were there in October. It does make it hard with the frozen drinks. I brought paper straws which worked well and are biodegradable. Needless to say, everyone was asking where I got them. If you are interested, most party stores have them. They are a bit more expensive than plastic, but well worth it!

They might replace the plastic straws with paper straws. You might have to request one. That is what La Cabana is doing. I hope, Divi does the same. I read it on the other thread:

No plastic cups or straws at LaCabana 12/1/17
