Always try to jump in the pool to cool off after a long, hot, sticky flight.

Get four beers while waiting in line to check in. Unpack then down to the Lacabana pool bar for either a CHI CHI or Long Island ice tea and curly fries. Look out at the beach and say Im home. No better feeling than that knowing we have the next 10 wonderful days to party Aruba style.

Strangely enough, as soon as I'm though security in Boston I notice a complete sense of calm and contentment. Just knowing that I'm through security makes the whole experience real. I know that probalby sounds strange, but I've noticed that the last couple of trips.
As far as in Aruba, we usually get in early so we leave the luggage at the porter's office and hit the beach for a few hours.

Once I exit the airport and get that first big breath of the Aruba air, the reality sets in that 'we're home'.

Everything that follows is like frosting on a double chocolate cake.

If hubby is with me, we go to Champion's for lunch, since our room usually isn't ready. (He insists on wearning long pants on the plane, and refuses to change until we're in our room, so we have to go somewhere that has air conditioning!) If I'm alone, I head down to the pool bar for a drink and some lunch! By the time the room is ready, I'm in full vacation mode!
