How many days is the perfect trip?

How many days do you like to stay on the island? Is there a minimum amount or maximum? My favorite trips have been our trips that have been between 12-15 nights. Its only been a few...but I have enjoyed them. The minimum amount would be 5 nights and that would almost be a tease at this point. Our next trip is scheduled for 9 nights but I am going to change that in the morning and extend it by 5 nights so I can take my son to a soccer camp run by a pro academy team out of the Netherlands- Crazy? maybe, lol.

.… a week is never enough so we've been doing 9-10 nights for some time now and this year 12 nights. Too much stuff we're needed for at home to do any longer.....

    14 for us seems perfect.
usually on day 10 we start talking about "boy I miss the dog or our bed or our cats"
then by the last day we are READY!!

what I really hate........on departure day.........I HATE that we don't leave til 2 or 3.
from the moment I wake up on that departure day, I want to be ON the plane and gone immediately 8 am if possible
the airport 3 hr thing is a total pain...when it is time to go home I want to be home!!

I so agree with the part about being ready 1st thing in the morning of the departure day. I tried the late flights...I don't enjoy it seeing as you have to check out anyways. I like the number 12...but I won't turn down extra days, lol.

Is the morning Miami flight too far to drive home? I would think that would meet your needs. I'm similar on the last day. I want to go to the airport after checkout and just get it over with.

I think 12 is great. A couple days to relax, a few for activities, then a couple more to just veg out on the beach. I would not go for less than 7, but keep in mind my nonstop options are limited so time and cost of flight make anything less than a week too short for me.

We like SWA due to us using our points.
MIA is a 5 hr drive home.
    FLL about 4.
So that is why we have been flying SWA in and out of Lauderdale.

i should check pricing though it wouldn’t hurt. Thx!!!

AA card usually has a decent sign up bonus, one for you and one for Paul could have you covered for a year. A 5 hour drive after vacation does seem daunting though.

We like to stay long so 5 weeks is good for us. The good thing is where we rent, usually he doesn't have anyone coming in for a couple of days so we can leave whenever. This year we have a later flight home due to the pricing of the air but that's ok, its only one hour later than our usual flight. normally I agree about getting home and missing my fur babies but they are taken care of by my SD so the only thing we worry about is bringing him back. They are always saying they are going to steal him. The outdoor cat we take care of is taken care of by my neighbor while we are gone. But if it wasn't for my baby, I could stay even longer. We are both retired so why not.

Ten days seem to be our number. I’ve had enough beach and sun by then and I’m feeling guilty about leaving the dog. I think I would prefer two trips a year at ten days each.

For us, any vacation should be around 8 days. We used to be able to stretch a trip out to ten days, which is perfect for my family, but soince I went back to work we have to reduce that. I could not justify an Aruba trip that was less than 7 days becuase I feel like we alwyas lose 2 to travel.
