YES! I think....can I bring my dogs & cat & kids? And not have to worry about finances? And will someone take care of my house/lawn/snow shoveling, etc.?

Then I would volunteer with the sea turtles & the cats & dogs and the orphanages and the beach clean ups. I would immerse myself in the culture and learn everything I could.

paul and i would, only if if we could have our dog/cats with us.

we could rent out our house here in FLA to golfing snowbirds.

we have had conversations with an aruba couple over the years to do a house trade.
    (we would trade houses)
however, they are not animal people and we could not bring the pets to their home and they would not be interested in having our pets while in our house...hahahaha

we'd spend most mornings at the beach (surfside).

we'd probably find some volunteering to do.....i would like to help with the age group swim teams and the synchronized swim teams.
paul would like to volunteer to play craps

maybe we would get bored, i would hope not.

I don't think we could do 6 months without being bored. We live in a large city with lots to do all within a 5 mile radius of our house (arts, entertainment, sports, shopping, lakes, tons of music venues, miles and miles of biking trails, tons of summer concerts and festivals, etc.) The longest time I ever spent in Aruba was 18 days and I was ready to come home at that point. Maybe when we're retired I could see spending one or two months there but doubtful we want want to stay longer. We always like to be learning, exploring, and traveling to new places.

It would be easy for me to live 6 months at a time in Aruba. I would spend my days enjoying the sights, jogging, swimming, cycling, and hanging with the family. I would spend my evenings playing poker like I do while I visit. My only concern would be I would be a daily drunk...but I would be willing to do it, lol. I don't drink at home but I drink like a fish in Aruba.

I love Aruba, yet I wouldn't want to be there 6 months at a time. My fear is it would no longer feel special and I would take it for granted.

I currently wouldn't stay 6 months at this stage of my life due to an older dog, kid in college and 1 getting married with the potential of another getting married soon. If I were to stay 6 months I think I could entertain myself well though. I would certainly spend a great deal of time at the beach but would want to volunteer at the orphanage and or with the sea turtles. I would explore more and hang out at different beaches. My husband would probably need a liver transplant if he stayed 6 months though. LOL

Absolutely. We're headed in that direction now, but it'll probably be three months at a time. The wife couldn't be away from the family for much longer then that. As we spend more time on the island we've become a lot less tourist orientated. We would probably do some volunteer work, as others have expressed too. At this point it's hard to imagine that our time there would get boring. We've reached a point in our lives where boring fits right in.
