There has been a lot of speculation here recently that the work on refurbishing it may never get completed. With the recent arrests and detainment of several top PDVSA officials, the refinery here has been impacted. The date for completion of the work has been pushed back and the number of locals employed is far from what was estimated In additio, PDVSA has missed its payment to the Aruba Government.

Unfortunately some property owners are getting a surprise. CITGO has rented a number of houses here for workers/managers they have brought in from Venezuela. It seems that the rentals are not being paid for at the moment.

From the Curacao Chronicle, response from both Prime Ministers of Aruba and Curacao:

Sad. I've been told that actually the opposite is happening. Boaters are coming to Aruba and taking back basics-fuel, food, clothing, etc.

Two articles from the Curacao Chronicle:

    http://curacaochronicle.com/politics...small-islands/

    http://curacaochronicle.com/politics...order-closure/

I wonder who else Maduro is going to blame for his country's economic woes?? The ABC islands are getting the blame right now, I wonder if Trinidad and Tobago will be next?? A large number of Venezuelans have moved here for a better quality of life, while others will come in to buy stuff to take home. Who knows??
