    MiDushi Captain Mario

I got word from a friend who is very close to this fine man

Mario was a beloved captain who died from a tragic accident. He was pushing dive tanks up the beach at Moomba. One of the tanks fell and the tank valve exploded. The force of the blast slammed the cart with tanks into his abdomen. Fractures his back, hips, legs.. caused internal bleeding. He died this morning at 5am.

A terrible loss. Mi Dushi was one of our favorites when we were a bit younger. May he rest in peace.

I was actually on the beach quite close to where this happened. I saw a huge blast which originally I thought was a propane explosion and lots of debris flying around. I saw originally two people run to the scene, which I later found out was an ER nurse and doctor who started CPR. The crowd that surrounded the situation was not something to be proud of. There were many doctors and nurses trying to help this man and ask ppl to move away and many if not most did not. Personally, I stayed where I was which was at my umbrella close to the pier which is why I witnessed the explosion.
We see every day the wheelbarrow with the many tanks wheeled from beside Moomba down the long pier and think nothing of it. The next day I saw it again and thought "why aren't those tanks tied down at all especially in light of what happened the day before"?
We were so saddened to hear that the man died and very proud of the many medical tourists who literally jumped in to try and save this man.
