MN Snowbird ready to leave chaos

My children's school is now 100% on-line and my hubby and I both are still working remotely due to covid.
Given the current climate and unrest- we feel it would be good to escape to this beautiful island for 6 weeks.

The hotels are offering a discount but we believe a house/Apt rental or AirbnB is best option.
Please pass on any good deals you may know of. Does not need to be on beach, need wifi and 2 bedrooms/kitchen. Leave as early as Dec 1 or right after new year...

    Thanks
    Lori (MN Snowbird)

    Great Idea!

I would love to work from Paradise. My company is working from home until end of July 2021 so far. If it wasn't because I take care of an Elderly Parent with the assistance of a home attendant 7 days a week, Id consider working from Aruba as well.

Try this website. I've never rented from them but are on their mailing list. Good luck!

Since 1980, and throughout the many changes, we still love going downtown in Oranjestad.

    Good afternoon Newbie MN,

Please let me echo the words of others here and welcome you to the forum.

Just by way of background, I've been going to Aruba, on and off, for about 40 years. It is a wonderful place for a vacation. We live in Winnipeg, about 500 miles to the northwest of Minneapolis. Hey, we know all about the desire to spend time on a sun-soaked beach rather than digging our car out of a snowdrift!

Back to Aruba; I love the idea of your working remotely in Aruba and yes, a house or condo sounds like the way to go. Driving around is pretty easy, there are several large, well-stocked supermarkets and when you and your children are at the beach or just walking around, there is an ease and a friendly atmosphere. You don't have to run a gauntlet of souvenir hawkers.

About the forum; it is difficult to imagine a friendlier, more helpful group of people than the group here on the forum. Andrea, Walt and others keep a pretty close eye on the postings and they are pretty well plugged into the Aruba Tourist Authority and other official Aruba government sources of information. They are first folks many of us talk to about the latest 'Aruba things'.

Check the reliability of wifi when researching places to rent. You don't want your employers thinking you've become untethered, so to speak.

I really look forward to hearing about your Aruba experience. If you like it, maybe you can extend your stay; just tell your employers that wifi works so much better from Aruba and that you can concentrate so much better when it's 90 degrees outside than when it's -30.

Last thing; even though we live (relatively) close to you, I cannot bring myself to cheer for the Vikings. I'm a Miami Dolphins fan; poster boys for underachievers everywhere.
