    Operation No Pup Left Behind

    Thank God.
    From ARF-Aruba.

    (8) Eight! Count ‘em! Eight! Ocho! Acht! As our volunteer Kim called it, “Operation No Puppy Left Behind” was in the works. Yes, miracles do happen. We managed to get our last 8 puppies off the island and on to the states for adoption, with the Aruba travel ban looming over us. We have the most amazing volunteers who worked selflessly and tirelessly day by day to make this happen. We were fortunate to have 2 great flight volunteers who calmly maneuvered American Airlines agents, the Aruba Airport, border customs, Aruba security, TSA, and the agriculture inspectors with 8 puppies in their charge, to make all this happen. We thank Shane and Mark from the bottom of our hearts for their willingness to take on flying with 8 puppies, 2 as carry-ons, and 6 as checked pets. We are also indebted to all the fosters who stepped up to the plate, veterans and new ones alike, who were willing to take over the next steps in these puppies’ young lives. We even had one adopted puppy in the mix that met her forever mama for the first time! Such joy, happiness, and relief spread through the MA airport last night as these puppies landed at 1:00 a.m. The puppies that went to U.S. fosters were Nico, Joy, Jazz, Johnny, Parker, Peggy, and Penelope. Pattie made it into the arms of her new mama at the airport.

Again, we thank all who stepped up to the plate to make this huge endeavor happen. That includes the fabulous ARF Aruba volunteers who had boots on the ground: Kim & Kristine; our willing transporters: Shane & Mark; and our very dedicated fosters in the U.S.: Susan, Christine, Barbie, Joanne, & Francis. Kudos to those behind the scenes who also made magic happen, and yes, we all believe in miracles!

These puppies will be posted soon for adoption. If interested in a little puppy love of your own, the adoption application is on our web site: http://arf-aruba.com/adopt.

Best wishes and happy lives to all these very sweet pups! May they enjoy the good life from now on.

Tom is the same way. I would get another in a heartbeat. Then he reminds me of how much it would cost to board two dogs on vacation.

It broke my heart yesterday when I saw on Facebook that they were begging people that were leaving the island to be transporters. When I saw today that 8 got on flights it made me so happy. I’ve always wanted to transport a puppy but I wouldn’t want to give it up. Maybe someday soon!
