    Sea-Glassing

Yesterday, Sunday Nov 6th, we sea-glassed along Druif Beach. There was a 12-15 foot wide broken coral apron at the shore break. Picked up 3 collectables. Returned today better equipped - the broken coral apron was not to be found, probably covered in sand.

The Divi And Tamarijn are on Druif Beach. Across from the Alhambra Casino.

Yes, we often think of it as the beach between Tam and Divi but it does include both Tam and Divi AI beachfront. We've traveled the island shore sea-glassing but didn't need to go far Sunday. Today, Druif Beach is approx. 40 feet wider and the 'old' shore break is buried. The 'new' shore break is all sand. Easier to get into the water, but no sea glass. We're heading north to Malmock where, while driving around, we saw a good deposit of broken coral at the shoe break - where there is broken coral, there will be sea glass. We've found collectable greens, browns and a little clear. Yet to find the elusive blue sea glass here on Aruba...

Found [the elusive] blue sea glass yesterday! One piece, my first in all the years of glassing. We spent the afternoon at Reflexions, lunch, shade tent, swimming and walking. Way down the beach near the end of the airport runway, there was some flotsam, small stuff, I wasn't really glassing but saw a few splashes of blue at the [gentle] surf break. Sure enough, one was a rounded piece of glass, the second piece wasn't "ready yet" so it was thrown back into the surf. So now after years of glassing I've finally got a blue piece! I know, I know, small victory. But small victories are victories nonetheless.
