    Setar SIM card

Hi all. I tried to do a good search through threads and am more confused than ever (and also did not find anything very recent - unless I am not searching right, which is very possible...) about SETAR SIM cards.

Is this still a good option? My dad and stepmom have Cricket wireless and that does not work in Aruba. I know lots of you have posted about buying SIM cards at the airport, so I am hoping someone can give me a quick synopsis on how this works. They have Android phones. I doubt they are unlocked. Is a SIM card going to work or should they buy a burner phone instead?

SETAR's site is not really telling me what I had hoped either, so I am going for user experience here on the forums.

Any help is greatly appreciated. Feel free to DM too.

That is kind of what I was afraid of... I will have to do some checking on that then.

    Thank you!

We've always had good service with Setar at the airport. They would need to buy a sim (i think it's $15 USD) and then a voice and /or data plan depending on what they're going to be using it for. There was one time when we sent my in-laws down and Setar didn't have any sim cards at the airport. That was a bit of a kaka show. But they headed over to Palm Beach the next day and got one. So have a plan b fort that scenario.

    Thanks, act1966!!

After using the Googler, I think I have found a few options that might work. One is that I have an old phone that I think I can unlock without any harm coming to it and we could get a SIM card so they could use that phone while down there. The other option is that it seems easy enough to unlock a Cricket phone and again, buy the SIM card when we get there. I just want to make sure I don't mess up their phone for when they get back to the US.

    Still doing my research...

You might also want to check to make sure they have a SIM card available for the phone you choose.

Paul and I each get SETAR SIM from the airport.
Actually it has been the same for the past 4 years, we just add data to it.
We mostly use the wifi at LaCabana, but do want to have to have the data.

For those of you that have done this before: are you Apple or Android?
