SMOKING (tobacco) in the RESORT Room or Balcony/Patio or where?

I am a member of a cruise group on FB.
It is "quite the group" and mean spiritedness, snarky talk and disrespect are the norm.

Someone asked "is Smoking allowed in the room or on the balcony?"
There were tons of responses all pretty horrible and some quite funny.

Here is one of the responses:
I like to smoke right before I get in bed, and i like to smoke In bed. And the first thing In the morning i smoke before i get out of bed. So the hell with the rules. I’m smoking."

So my question is.........If you are a tobacco smoker...........Where do you smoke legally when at your resort?

We are ex smokers here- never in the room-all would fine you and the last few years of smoking we stopped smoking in the house here at home. Some places let you smoke on balconies, some do not (HI comes to mind). Don’t miss trying to find somewhere to smoke without annoying someone.

I miss the idea of enjoying smoking in bed. That was many moons ago. Now, I'm a horrible ex-smoker who doesn't like being around it. La Cabana allows smoking on the balcony/patio but they are very strict about NOT smoking in the room or keeping the door open for both smoke & mold reasons.

My husband is a smoker...ugh. however I like to think he is as respectful as one can be around the resort. Surf Club and Bucuti are both resorts that have one specific area that allows smoking on their entire property grounds. Both charge large fines if there is evidence of smoking on the balcony or in the room.I like that idea. The beach or at a bar, all bets are off and I dont say anything but we do sit so that I am upwind. If people happen to be eating near us at a bar, he will step away to smoke. On the beach he also pays attention to those around us. In Aruba the wind does break the smoke up pretty quickly but we have been at other beaches where families with kids are nearby and he is careful to ensure he is not smoking at our seats if it is going in the direction of kids.

On a cruise he does smoke on the balcony. I know it may be an annoyance to others on their balconies but I don't say anything because we aren't in the room much so it's not an all day thing.

Smoking is such a common complaint. You would think that with all the technology we have they could come up with a filtration system that just sucks the smoke out of the air. Then everyone could be happy

Guilty..... I do smoke on the balcony at Manchebo.....if no one else is on balconies on either side.... not supposed to but do on a limited basis..... I do smoke on the beach.... and no, you'll never find my butts in the sand.... always contained and promptly into the trash. I'm considerate of those around me, especially since DW is a non smoker...... I absolutely hate seeing people smoking at the entrance to any building..... just go away, far away from the doorway.....no one wants to walk thru your smoke. And I really know better than to smoke..... so I'm activly working on quitting.... I'm at half the consumption that I was a month ago..... and that's been consistant....... I have the patch and ready for the right time to take the full plunge......

Keep up the good work! Luckily I never picked up the habit, I'll stick with drinking, gambling, and eating terribly as my bad habits.

However I grew up near smokers and it never used to bother me. However now that it is no longer socially acceptable to smoke everywhere I've noticed how gross the smell is.

Way to go CP. Tom smoked for years and years. He was finally successful at quitting with the help of Chantix. It’s been 12 years now!!
