    Two Questions

We are traveling home from Aruba on a Friday this time. This is the first time we've traveled home closer to a weekend. Is this a condo flip day? Our flight leave at 4:45 pm. I know about the 3 hours rule, but as we usually leave mid-week, we've never had a problem. Will it be crazy? I'm trying to spend as much time as possible on the beach before we head home!!

I've read on TripAdvisor about a $35.00 departure fee? I don't remember paying that before, but it has been 5 years since we have been lucky enough to go back to Aruba. Is that taken care of in our airfare from the States? A lot of reports on TripAdvisor have been from England lately.

As always - thanks in advance!!

Great to get back after 5 years.....! We had no additional fees/taxes beyond our airfare this year. As far as when to get to the airport.... we always travel Tue or Thu and always 'abide' by the 3 hour rule and always get to the gate 2 hours before departure..... and wouldn't really cut it much closer.

the $35 departure tax IS included in your air ticket
(for some traveling to places other than USA it is not included and must be paid at the airport in aruba)

3 hours is the guideline set by the Aruba Airport Authorities.
I think it might be a tad less on a Friday, but not much less than a tad.
I would not cut it close.

Friday checkouts for timeshares....Some Lacabana, some tropicana, all costa linda, all renaissance ocean suites, some marriott.
I am unsure about condo rentals flip over day.

I've had very good luck leaving on a Friday and getting through to the gate quickly and usually without excessive lines but I still give it 3 hours, just to be sure. This year we went through security in record time, I was at One Happy Bar waiting for it to open.

We can't say, as we usually depart on Tuesday-Thursday, when two hours has been plenty for us.

What a bummer...sitting in the crying room and waiting for the bar to open. Talk about depression...!

Thanks! I didn't remember getting charged a departure fee but didn't want a surprise. Evsn though I hate to miss a minute of Aruba time, I guess we better abide by the 3 hour rule. I hate to sit around the airport when I coild be on the beach but I don't want to miss the last direct flight home either. Knew I could count on the Forum Friends for answers! 91 more days and I'll be waiting for our first sunset!!

Our first time flying home on a Friday as well but hoping it is less crazy than our usual Saturday departure don't even want to think about departure day just arrival which is also a first on a Weds.

We are doing Wed. - Friday for the first time also. We usually do Tuesday-Tuesday or Thursday depending on whether we stay 7 or 9 days. This year we are doing 9 days...yippee! I will let you know what Friday departure is like when we return!

If you book through and fly Aruba Airlines, you get charged $35 at the departure/check-in desk and it must be cash. If you book with a TA and fly Aruba Airlines, you wont be charged the fee.
