Aruba is just small enough to allow for cycling enthusiasts to enjoy this desert island's exotic terrain. Because some of the roads throughout the island are sandy, a mountain bike is the way to go. The terrain is mainly flat so you won't get exhausted peddling up steep hills.

The weather is generally hot and sunny, but cyclists will appreciate Aruba's cooling trade winds. Nevertheless, it is always advised to go armed with plenty of sunscreen to battle the elements.

There’s no better way to see the countryside firsthand than mountain biking through the Aruban cunucu. Trails lead up to the Alto Vista Chapel and all along the rugged northeast coast, passing crashing waves. Mountain biking in Aruba, you will also pass Tierra del Sol Golf Club and wind your way up the coral plateau to the California Lighthouse for a magnificent view of the high-rise hotel strip. Bikers then can descend and pass Arashi Beach, Boca Catalina and Malmok Beach before making their way inland again. Bike rentals are available at TriBike in Santa Cruz, Rancho Notorious, Melchor Cycle Rental, Pablito's Bike Rental, and at companies around the hotel strip. Check with your hotel concierge for possibilities.
