Good Friday in Aruba is an official holiday and forms the beginning of the long Easter weekend and the start of the Holy Week, "Semana Santa", in Papiamento. As most Arubans are Catholics, many locals attend church in remembrance of the crucifixion. A special event is held each year at the church in Dakota, starting at 10 am.
