They will take vaccine cards as proof of vaccination correct???? I know they did not last year when they started to allow vaccinated people in without testing. Many states don’t have the vaccine passport (NJ is one of them). Even if they did most people got their boosters at different facilities. In my case when I got the booster they just added it in writing to the vaccine card.

Agreed .... I actually saw a couple of idiots at work forging cards.... gimme a break!

we will have to watch the whole thing unfold............. Fl does not have any form of a digitized vaccine passport either.

the cruise lines are just accepting the vaccine cards that we all were given.

The taxi driver said they were going to make things easier to promote tourism. It surely made my cousin happy today. He is coming mid Feb. and was concerned about getting everyone tested.

That is basically exactly what I said to my wife earlier....they needed to remove the hurdles to boost visitors. I have never seen prices so inexpensive for flights in Feb.

I see this as a good first step. Maybe by the time I go in August I won't even have to test to come home. But I'll still wear a mask on the plane (at least my thinking right now). CT has a digital vaccination card but I haven't gotten it yet. Better get on that...

To me this is great news as it eliminates the hoop jumping around trying to get a test and results within the very short turnaround window that currently exists to leave the US. It removes one of the large obstacle for us.

With regard to the US lifting testing requirements for citizens returning to the US, although I've read "nothing" to suggest this could be coming, I am thinking it may well come (and sooner than people thing).

My reasoning is that the goal of testing is to prevent someone from bringing Covid from where they were (outside the US) to where they are returning (in the US). At some point, the powers that be (US CDC and/or the administration) will realize that this is not a meaningful contributor to the number of cases of Covid we have here in the states (the main driver being the behavior of our own citizens who refuse to take precautionary measures that would meaningfully slow the spread (vaccines and mask wearing when out in public)). Additionally, just because someone tests negative within 24 hours of their flight doesn't mean they don't have Covid (after all, how many cases have we read about over on TA of people returning to the US from Aruba who tested negative in Aruba, but positive once back in the states).

So, I am coming to the view that making it harder for people to enter the US (returning citizens especially) is not going to meaningfully slow the spread of Covid (or new Covid variants) within the US. It seems like window dressing left over from a mistaken belief that locking people out of this country was really going to make much difference (and I thought it was a good idea back when the pandemic first reared its ugly head). My thinking has evolved. The CDC's will too - it is just a matter of when and what factors cause that to happen for them.

Colette NJ has the Docket App it shows all your Covid vaccinations including boosters and has a barcode "Smart Health Card". Check it out

For me, the docket app shows all of my shots (including the booster which was administered at a different location from the first two shots).

What form of proof are they requiring and how do they want it submitted to them? Screen shot of Docket App or picture of vaccination card (the latter being easier for people to manufacturer).

Went to a concert the weekend of Thanksgiving. They required proof of vaccination or negative covid test. Guy in line a few people in front of me was trying to use a picture of his vaccine card on his phone. Security guard barked at him and said, "don't come back until you download the Excelsior app with proof of your vaccine". They had no interest in whatever other proof he was trying to show them. I showed my Docket App and ID and in I went.
