2022 Wente Vineyards Charity Golf Tournament
Husband and wife team, Axl Ismail and Alexandra Ismail Brown, win the 2022 Wente Vineyards.
Tierra del Sol -- A full day of much-enjoyed golf this past Saturday, took off with a 12noon shotgun start. Shortly before sunset, husband and wife team Axl Ismail and Alexandra Ismail Brown, won first prize, a trip for two to San Francisco, and the California wine country to experience Wente Vineyards. Tina Morrison and Jerold Forger came in second, while Gian Pietersz and Karel Slikker, came in third, and were awarded generous prizes.
Players were treated to lunch while playing on the golf course, catered by Papiamento Restaurant, paired with a nicely chilled bottle of Wente Vineyards wine. At the award banquet at Tierra Del Sol, on the pool deck, overlooking the California lighthouse, at sunset, players enjoyed a buffet of soups and sandwiches as Govert van der Hout, Arion Wine Company, and Director of Golf, James Kiley, helped Eric Wente hand out certificates and prizes to three top-winning teams.
Additional gifts were won by David Powers, closest to the pin on hole #3, Sven Schneider, closest to the pin on hole #7, Shirley Barrow, closest to the pin on hole #13, Axl Ismail closest to the pin on hole #15, and Alexandra Ismail Brown, closest to the pin on hole # 17.
The 16th Annual Wente Vineyards, Arion Wine Company, Papiamento Restaurant Charity Golf Tournament concluded successfully with a check presentation to Jump 18, a much-needed initiative, the Childhood Obesity Prevention Program, a Multidisciplinary Management of Childhood Obesity, affiliated with HOH, Horacio Oduber Hospital.
“It’s great to be back,” reported James Kiley, “this is our first open event, and it went very well, with gorgeous weather and a smooth organization, with 52 teams, a total of 104 players.”
“We’re very pleased with the results,” said Govert van der Hout,” the tournament awarded its first price to a couple of newlyweds, which is very special, and it attracted over one dozen sponsors from the community, who contributed enthusiastically to a great social cause.”
Arion Wine Company organizes the exciting tournament annually, with the active participation of Eric Wente, of Wente Vineyards, as the golf tournament host. Together with Papiamento restaurant the partners present a multi-tiered event over the course of one weekend each April.
