For the first time Aruba will be joining as a proud partner in "White Rabbit Red Rabbit", which is an interactive, international play.
The goal of this play is to celebrate live theatre and its resiliency in these uncertain times, by staging the play "White Rabbit Red Rabbit" in theatres around the world, including Cas di Cultura aruba, on the same day which is the 13th of March 2022.
In March 2020 most of the theatres closed their doors because of the pandemic. With this international event the day the theatres went dark and the important role they play for the audiences and the society will be recognised with the initiative "Let there be theatre".
On March 13 2022 Aurora Nova; an international theatre booking agency and consultancy firm based in Berlin has offered international theatres around the world, including Cas di Cultura, the license to the play "White Rabbit, Red Rabbit" by Nassim Soleimanpour.
In 2021 92 theatres in 33 countries took part in this initiative and performed the play on the same day. Cas di Cultura feels honored to be a part of this initiative in 2022.
With no rehearsal, no director, a different actor each night, and a script waiting in a sealed envelope on stage, internationally acclaimed “White Rabbit, Red Rabbit” by Iranian writer Nassim Soleimanpour, is an audacious theatrical experiment and a potent reminder of the transgressive and transformative power of theatre. Nassim Soleimanpour was denied a passport in his native Iran because of his status as a conscientious objector. Unable to travel, he decided to write a play which could travel the world in his place. This makes for a unique, thrilling experience for all, as the audience joins a different performer each night on a journey into the unknown; stumbling upon the “personal and profound, rifling on the limits of liberty and exploring where theatre can take you, with or without a passport.”
The play has already been translated in more than 30 languages and has been performed over a 1000 times by as many different performers.
Aruba’s version of White Rabbit, Red Rabbit will be performed by multi-talent Jair Buddy Vesprey.
