Continuous Self Development at EPI

Continuous Self Development at EPI with U-Spark People Management & Development Consultancy

Colegio EPI enjoyed a full week of learning with Charlène Nectar, Owner & Managing Director U-Spark People Management & Development Consultancy.

She volunteered for the mission, which she considers sacred, deciding to be part of Colegio EPI’s Leadership Program, at the final stretch of the current school year.

The week was spent sharing knowledge, regarding Leadership Communication.

“The way I see it,” says Nectar, “I spent five days in the classroom with our Future Leaders in the hospitality Industry, and it was a wonderful experience. I could clearly see their potential shining through, with some coaching and direction, we accomplished a lot.”

Colegio EPI Hospitality and Tourism connected with Nectar, asking her to take part in the planned curriculum, and she immediately agreed. “I believe that as a company we have the responsibility to contribute to the learning and development of students, whenever possible. Especially since the hospitality industry is key to our economy and the school has a special place in my heart. There was no other possible answer, but YES,” she adds.

In total, 48 students took active part in the Topic Presentations, and Work Groups. All students were graded on their work, whose topics varied from the importance of internal communication in the hospitality Industry, to how organizational culture impacts communication in the workplace.

The students also reviewed the impact of leadership on communication, and the role of communication in a diverse work environment.

They discussed the impact of employee engagement on communication within organizations, and the improvement of communication between multigenerational employees.

They worked in groups and listened to lectures and on the last day delivered impressive presentations integrating their newly acquired knowledge.

Members of the grading committee included Charlène Nectar as Head of the Committee & Instructor, and special guests Michiko Eman-den Hartog, Human Resources Manager at Bucutu & Tara Beach Resort. Eman was invited for the final presentations joining Nectar and Lucie Kelly, English, Public Speaking and Critical Thinking, teacher at Colegio EPI.
