ECODMS Aruba & Curacao wins “Best Guerilla Marketing Initiative/Campaign”, with their creative Happy News Editions 1 & 2, for the 2020 BizBash Event Style Awards Powered by Meeting Play. The team at ECODMS was awarded as the most original and effective live or virtual promotion for a product, with their Happy News Editions 1 & 2, done virtually via the Zoom platform.

The BizBash Event Style Awards is a recognition that honors the best meeting and event ideas, strategies, products and technology in North America and beyond, the awards are given to entries that demonstrate innovation and creativity, quality of execution, effectiveness and an influential impact on the industry. The judging panel includes BizBash's National Advisory Board, as well as BizBash editors and top Elite international Producers of our industry.

When ECODMS started with the Happy News Edition, the business objective was to maintain an open communication with the incentive market and meeting planners, create the ability to virtually meet with existing and potential clients during the difficult year of 2020 when in-person meetings were not available, and for ECODMS to have done this, the team needed to adapt to the ever-changing world of technology, and quickly made it a defining point of their business.  The concept of a News Broadcast was created.

For Happy News 1 ECODMS worked with local partner, Elite Productions to produce an informative one-hour virtual meeting for their clients and partners. During the hour-long meeting, ECODMS’ own staff as “news reporters” broadcasted live from the studio and gave a detailed overview on the protocols that were set in place on both islands due to the Covid-19 pandemic, the team also gave information on the Level Up – No Touch Action Protocol that ECODMS developed for their clients, to ensure a safe and hygienic environment for their MICE groups. Happy News Edition 1 was also co-hosted by eGroup communications and Marvellous Mark Speaks, along with Gary Boardman from JustCallGary.com’s with an interactive Aruba & Curacao trivia game to which clients could participate and win prizes.

Due to the immense success of Happy News Edition 1, and the requests from meeting planners and clients alike, ECODMS quickly went on to produce their Happy News Edition 2, with a different concept in mind. This time around, ECODMS conducted one-on-one interviews with local hotel partners, destination partners, the Queen Beatrix International Airport, the Aruba Hotel and Tourism Association, and the Aruba Tourism Association.

During the one-hour virtual meeting, the ECODMS team once again partnered with Elite Productions and presented the news live from Elite Studios as well as live on location at their exclusive venue “Cas di Wichi”. The viewers were able to experience the different interviews with the local destination partners, get up-to-date information on the destinations, ask questions during a live Q&A panel, and get a glimpse of the cultural immersion experiences and décor available by (“Cas di Wichi”) Eco DMS

Happy News Editions 1 and 2 were definitely a unique and “out-of-the-box” experience that allowed ECODMS to support the local community and destination partners, connect with their marketing partners, as well as with new and repeat clients. The entire team at ECODMS is honored and grateful to have received this main stage recognition and award.
