Harold was bestowed the “2016 Employee of the Year Award” of the Manchebo Beach Resort & Spa.
The staff, management and owners of the Manchebo Beach Resort & Spa are very proud that Harold Rasmijn has been awarded the 2018 Caribbean Employee of the Year Award during last week’s CHTA Chief Conference in Miami. The annual award of the Caribbean Hotel & Tourism Association (CHTA) recognizes outstanding hospitality employees who exemplify above-average technical competence and hospitality skills.
A special celebration was held at the resort’s Beach Pavilion on Tuesday afternoon, June 26, upon Harold’s return from Miami, during the weekly Manager’s Cocktail Party together with the resort guests, staff, management and owners. There were special words of praise and a champagne toast to Harold’s major accomplishment.
On December 1, 2017 Harold was the proud recipient of the highly coveted 2017 AHATA Excellence Award for Employee of the Year of the Aruba Hotel & Tourism Association. This spring AHATA and Manchebo Beach Resort & Spa nominated Harold for the Caribbean Award which he got awarded this past weekend in Miami in the presence of Patrick van den Berg, assistant resort general manager and Tisa Lasorte, AHATA’s CEO.
Harold started his restaurant career over 30 years ago at the famous Talk of the Town Hotel on Aruba. Harold did so under the guidance of legendary Aruba hotelier Ike Cohen, who was the first recipient of the CHTA’s Caribbean Hotelier of the Year Award in 1978.
“Harold is renowned by his many repeat guests as well as his colleagues for his wonderful and foremost authentic dining service making his guests feel right at home. His extensive knowledge on menus, food, wine and service was obtained during a dedicated career in the restaurant service industry for over 30 years. Throughout the years Harold worked himself up from busboy to assistant waiter, waiter and captain” says Edgar Roelofs the resort’s general manager.
On January 13, 2017 Harold was bestowed the “2016 Employee of the Year Award” of the Manchebo Beach Resort & Spa. “Until today Harold takes wonderfully care of both our One Happy Island visitors as well as the many locals who join him at his The Chophouse at Manchebo Beach Resort & Spa on Eagle Beach for a culinary dining experience providing top-notch service. Harold is probably most renowned by his guests for his fabulous table-side dish preparations including the banana flambee and crepe suzette preparations as well as the table-side carving of the famous Chateaubriand”.
