They completed and received certifications of Certified Lodging Security Officer (CLSO) by the American Hospitality & Lodging Educational Institute (AHLEI).

During the first part of the year, seven of the Security Team members graduated a program, facilitated by the local EPI College. The program provided general safety and security techniques and tips, as well as hospitality-specific information that security officers need in order to deliver effective services at lodging properties.

The Lodging Security Officer program reviewed a myriad of topics including laws and responsibilities of a lodging property; Legal powers and limitations of security officer role; Routine security activities and techniques such as patrolling, documentation, and investigation; Responding to incidents and emergencies including, human trafficking, anti-terrorism/signs of terrorism, active assailant, hostage situation, weather emergencies and natural disasters.

In addition, nine members of the security team graduated the Tourism Security Reporting, during the months of August and September. They successfully participated in a specialized workshop designed to improve their writing of reports, specific to tourism, facilitated by Luxcel Consulting VBA.

The main objective of the workshop was to review the fundamentals of security reporting and to offer the opportunity to enhance their communication skills. Upon completion of the workshop, participants had a clearer understanding of the importance of producing accurate reporting within the Aruba tourism industry, writing write quality descriptions in clear language demonstrating their mastery of coherent phrasing, in even complex situations.
