I am writing to you to express my extreme displeasure with the handling of my wedding at the Radisson.

I booked my wedding with a Sales Manager at the Radisson in August of 07. At that time I was informed that all Saturdays were available with the exception of 7-18-08. I then confirmed 7-26-08 with the Sales Manager and the Assistant Director of Catering and Convention services. This occurred in August 2007.

Since that time all correspondence with the hotel confirmed the date of our wedding for 7-26-08.

Imagine my horror, when two weeks ago (just two months until the wedding with invitations already sent out) I was sent a communication from your Assistant Director of Catering that the date was all set for JUNE 25th!!!!!

When I contacted the hotel directly I was told another wedding was booked and it had booked before me! This was not what I was told a year ago.

At that point I was told that I could have the beach at the other end of the hotel. While this seemed like an OK idea at the time, I decided to have my wedding planner check it out, as the hotel had not been
honest with me from the start.

The wedding planner informed that there was a large water sports tent right on top of the wedding location. Did they expect that I would just come to the Radisson and have to accept these conditions because it was too late?

Now, two months before our wedding day, my fiance and I are forced to have to find another venue because we don't want our 35 guests to be sitting on top of a water sports tent on a "side beach".

I have always referenced the proper date in all communications. The hotel has not been honest with how things have been handled and have mishandled the most important day of my life to date.

I picked the hotel for the beach location and hospitality I would expect from a Radisson hotel. I have been disappointed with all of those things up to this point. I will not be swept to some ridiculous location (aka a Watersports tent) to have my wedding.

Do not have the same thing happen to you. For a year, I had planned this special day and could never have imagined something like this happening. Stay away from the incompetent staff at the Radisson and choose one of the other beautiful hotels along Palm Beach.

So sorry this has happened to you. Have you tried contacting Gary Jutz General Manager of the resort directly?

Horrible story. What makes it worse is that they are still brushing you aside and you have proof to back your story. If calling the GM at Radisson does not get you anywhere, try the Hyatt. It is right next door to the Radisson. It is a beautiful property. GM there is Scott Allen 297-586-1234. Attached is a link to get you more information about their wedding packages. Good Luck

Hi there,
Thank you for your reply and reading my story.
I actually was put in touch with their National Sales Manager who spoke with me by phone and apologized for the confusion, but the best she was able to do was place us on the "side beach." Of course, she failed to mention our guests would be sitting on top of the water sports tent. Thank goodness for my wedding planner who went to check it out for me and actually advised me to go elsewhere because she did not like the looks of the whole setup. When I emailed this National Sales Manager again, she claims that she didn't see it as a problem because it wouldn't be in my pictures. Unbelieveable, right?! Not what one would expect from a Radisson. Now less then two months from the big day, we were forced to change our location to the Divi. Worst of all, the group who I know booked their wedding after us, was given the main beach because I was told they are "repeat customers"

Wow, did you consider contacting the corporate offices ? Have you by any chance kept the emails that you sent back and forth since the original date was confirmed ?? They should try to at least help you with plans to get another location.....

Wow, I just read your posting. Just came back from Aruba and took a walk around the grounds of Radisson while we were on the island. Yes, there is a new watersports tent there and not an ideal beach location for a beach wedding. I would guess that your wedding is now being held at Divi Phoenix Beach Resort? It is a shame what happened to you and surprised that your wedding planner did not know that Radisson had the wrong wedding date. I hope that your plans are going smoothly now and your wedding planner makes sure that your wedding day is very beautiful :)

I'm so sorry to hear about that your having to go through this terrible ordeal. I hope you get it all sorted out and your day would work out to be even better than you had planned it to be.

Thank you all for your concern and thoughtfulness. I appreciate hearing that the awful watersport tent is there and really does look obnoxious. Just from the sound of it, I can't imagine that is where they wanted to put my guests and I. I also just spoke with the DOSM of the Radisson Aruba, Francis Purvey, and he was EXTREMELY rude and unprofessional. He said that he noticed we do not have guests staying at the Radisson (which has NOTHING to do with my wedding reception) and that he will look into who is marrying on the main beach (although that should have no affect on the fact we booked first). Plus, he said that the person who original booked the date and told us there were no other weddings is no longer working there. Again, what does that have to do with my wedding. He said he absolutely would not switch the arrangements of who is marrying where and couldn't believe my wedding planner told me what she said, which is to "choose another location." Talk about unprofessional!
