First time going to Aruba at the end of the September!! I have visited many islands and hear that Aruba is the best. My boyfriend's frist time to anywhere in the Islands and he's so excited. :D

Has anyone stayed at the Divi Phoenix? Can you tell us anything about it?

Thanks!

My husband and i have never stayed at the phoenix, but have been there often visiting friends, and my aunts that own there.
Their units are nice, although need updating. Maybe they have been remodeled siince we were in them last (Christmas).
I have only been in the units that are in the tower building.
There is a bar near the beach/pool.
The beach is QUIET and lovely with plenty of shade huts.
There is a restaurant on site.
The only thing i do not like about my Aunts' units is that the balcony is only accessible by the bedroom.

It is a nice property.

we own in the low rise villa's in front of the tower, they have been updateing them and are very nice. the only down fall is the construction going on, a little distracting and some debris flying around when we were ther in March. it is NOT a party place, very quiet and peaceful. if you are looking for someplace to hang out at the pool bar, it closes by 7 pm.

This is also my first trip to Aruba, it will be for our honeymoon and we are staying at the Divi Phoenix. I have heard it is very peacful, however, they are doing construction that isn't supposed to be finished until the very end of 2008. We are staying there Sept. 15-21st.

With this photo taken in June, I wonder if that "end of 2008" date is set in stone?

I have look very closely at a model of the 2 bedroom units they are currently building. They will be VERY NICE when completed. Plenty of square footage, high end floors, at least 2 32' Flats screen TV's, granite counters, quality appliances, 2 full tile baths etc. etc. They are also adding a second pool with a new resturant, and more beach frontage. If I'm in the market for a TS I would easily consider watching for a resale at the Pheonix after completion.

TJ, how are they going to expand the beach frontage? Are they going to dredge in front of the new complex since it is so shallow there?

The sand is the easy part to move. If I understand what they intend to do correctly than the more difficult part will be removing / relocating the barrier wall.

Okay, moving the barrier wall was going to be my next question. ;) I take it that the barrier wall is there for a reason, but it seems that the sand has been coming south down the coast and built up in that area between the Westin and Phoenix? Should be interesting. I have always loved that "quiet" end of Palm Beach. Just hope they do not ruin it. :(

This is the only section of Palm Beach that really works for me...and I could'nt agree more, I also hope that they DON"T RUIN IT .

Actually, (while on the TS subject) I would love the Tamarijn to remove the dividing wall between 2 rooms and make it a TS :D I'd be all over that. Or maybe instead of joining 2 rooms on the same floor they could add a stair case to the room directly above for more of a townhouse affair. Either way  I don't think I could resist that kind of temptation.

OMG  We were talking to our friends about the exact same thing while we were there in June. You are right, either way, it would be an ideal location for a TS. :)
